With the IQ2 MIDI Reloop presents the latest mixer from the trend-setting IQ series. Compared to its predecessors the IQ2 MIDI is completely digital with the best, noise-free sound characteristics and a 4x4 multichannel USB audio interface with 24 bit / 96 kHz studio quality. As all elements are MIDI compatible this mixer can also be used as MIDI controller and thanks to the MIDI flex function, the crossfader, as well as the effect unit, can be used in MIDI or audio mode. Moreover the IQ2 MIDI offers a digital matrix-input function. This way all audio inputs, as well as all MIDI channels, can be flexibly routed to the channels. The ASIO/CORE audio drivers guarantee the absolutely lowest latency for a professional standard while mixing. Further novelties are the reversible crossfader and the 2 battle mode that allows looping in a second mixer or DVS system via the loop input. Topping it all off is the fact that the mixer is „Traktor Ready“ and it can be selected very easily within the software as preset. The DN-X1700 represents an achievement of Denon’s engineering prowess and the Denon DJ team’s close association with top end professionals in the business. Years of consultation and design have gone into the development of a mixer of this calibre, and nothing in its specification and construction has been sacrificed to cost or mass manufacturing concerns. Meticulous attention to detail, layout and component quality, make operation of the DN-X1700 a dream, and Denon’s engineers have provided every facility professional DJs will require; working with vinyl, CD, digital files, laptops and USB storage devices.1 Everything about the DN-X1700 is the best it can be.
A 4-channel ‘industry standard’ size table top design, the immediately impressive aspect of the design is the simple spacious layout, with highly tactile controls widely and logically laid out to enable easy operation during performance. This features large high quality rubberised knobs, studio quality 60 mm Alps K Series channel faders, 45 mm FLEX cross fader, high visibility colour LCD display, extended 24 point LED channel and output metering, and LED ring metering around the control knobs.
In operation, principal features related to the power and flexibility of the DN-X1700 are its Matrix Input Assignment with digital input and MIDI / USB audio, independent and parametric 3-band EQ with Kill on each channel, and dual independent EFX processors. The two EFX processors are located together, with the 3.5 inch TFT colour LCD positioned directly above, for ease of operation. One or other, or both EFX are selectable per channel, and combined EFX operation is available.
Each mixer channel has a discrete MIDI layer, enabling external control of various PC and Mac Audio / Video DJ software applications; with the LED ring indicators switching colour to indicate MIDI operation. USB audio I/O extends to 8 mono/ 4 stereo in / out, making the mixer an extremely high quality USB audio interface. Individual user settings – including for audio, system and MIDI settings – can be exported and imported in file format, saved to a USB memory device, HDD, laptop, etc..
The 32-bit floating point DSP engine at the heart of the DN-X1700 is state-of-the-art. It delivers a level of processing power that provides exceptional performance in terms of signal processing quality and control. To match this processing power Denon has equipped the DN-X1700 with 32-bit digital analogue conversion at the audio output stage. Even the world’s best CD / DVD players and home theatre systems boast 24-bit DA conversion; 32-bit conversion provides additional ‘headroom’ in the conversion process providing an analogue output signal with greater resolution and frequency response. The resultant ultra wideband output signal makes the DN-X1700 one of the best sounding pieces of digital audio equipment ever made for the DJ market.
Sound quality is paramount in the DN-X1700. Much of the component layout and quality designed to deliver that is derived directly from Denon’s top of the range AV and audiophile products. This extends to discrete series and switching power supplies, respectively, for the analogue and digital signal paths, and an R-core low noise transformer and custom made capacitors. Vinyl quality is given special attention with a high grade phono FET equalizer circuit derived from the ‘Pure Amp’ circuitry of the Denon PMA SA1 audiophile stereo amplifier; this features an 88 dB signal-to-noise ratio and performance specification to complement the output of the best cartridges.
Digital audio inputs and USB ports enable direct digital connection of CD decks, laptops, MP3 players and the like – avoiding degradation of input signals by analogue connections and soundcards of varying quality, and multiple digital analogue and analogue digital conversions; ASIO driver ensures low latency from PC soundcards. The attention to sound quality extends to a high quality, low noise discrete microphone pre-amp and high power discrete headphone amplifier.
